If you are one of those who pays for 2 phone lines, or switched to cable mainly to get rid of one, the next few minutes of your time spent reading this will be very worthwhile.

First, what some of our customers are saying about the new v.92 modems:

"This has been a great thing...I always worried that I was missing important calls and this really eases my mind...I connect to the Internet much faster...so far I haven't lost a connection yet with the new modem." --Diana Higden Battle Creek, MI

"Our experience has been wonderful...a definite speed improvement. " Bob Finlayson-- Hopkins, MI

We're excited, too, about the new V.92 modems! Despite what most people think, modem manufacturers have NOT been sitting on their hands while some home users were moving to expensive, often overkill, cable services. V.92 modems are the latest, and the most revolutionary advance ever, in dial-up modem technology. Revolutionary because V.92 modems are the first modems to actually take control of your telephone. It's like adding a brain to your phone.

Unlike the dumb and vulnerable cable connection co-habitating with an even dumber TV set, the V.92 modem is a true tele-communications manager co-habitating with your phone, delivering the Internet or capturing call data. Kind of like a traffic cop standing in front of your phone--moving data to and from Triton or dealing with voice calls, while taking notes, too.

The new technology is faster and more efficient. In tests against the older V.90 modems, V.92 connects faster and will squeeze up to 60% more data per second through that same phone line.

If you are among those who added a 2nd phone line for Internet you may find that you can live without it on V.92. Either way, you should be using V.92 now! *

With V.92 comes features that add both convenience and improved performance; Modem Hold, Quick Connect, PCM Upstream, and V.44 Compression. Those are on the Internet side. Look for V.92 to open the floodgates on features for your phone, too. Now that the modem is hooked at the hip with the phone, it can grab the call data and can put it to use for you. Software for everything that the phone company charges extra for, is possible-- and will likely soon be available. Unlimited Phone Call History, Caller-ID, Directory Assistance, Phone Books, Voice Mail, Call Forwarding, Auto Redial, Repeat Dialing, *69, Conference Calling, Answering Machine, Customized Messages, etc. Can you do that with a cable connection???

Purchase A V.92 Modem

What V.92 offers:

Modem On Hold – A V.92 modem hears the phone ring before you do. Then displays the caller ID on your screen so you can decide whether or not to take the call. If you pick up the phone to take the call--or to place a call, V.92 puts your Internet connection to Triton on hold-- then instantly resumes the Internet session when you hang up. You need the Call Waiting feature (from your phone company) to make this happen.

Quick Connect – Shortens the length of time it takes your modem to negotiate its connection to your ISP by about half.

Increased upstream rates, up to 48K – A nearly 50% increase in upload speed means you can send photos and attachments faster.

V.44 Compression–They've done it again! Found a better way to compress data, sending more--in smaller packages, which for you, translates into faster page loads. Tests are showing increases of up to 60% in throughput.

Dial-up modem connections are still the most popular way to use the Internet, out-numbering broadband users nearly 7-1. Besides being cost effective, they are more secure, too. The random IP addresses given to dial-up connections (as opposed to fixed addresses for cable) offer a signifcantly greater amount of protection against hackers. So, if you still think you want to pay $20-$30 more per month for cable,--just so web pages will load a second or two faster--you're gonna have to live without all the great features and the future of V.92. And pay Ma Bell for stuff the rest of us get for free.

* V.92 may not provide the same or all benefits for everyone. First of all your ISP has to support it. Triton does so, in many areas. On your end; if you aren't able to get at least 28k connections regularly with your current modem--and you're sure it's not the fault of your modem--there is a chance that your V.92 modem may not kick in all of its features. Talk to your neighbors about their modem speeds/performance. If better than yours, you need to take a long, hard look at quality of your phone equipment/lines/service.
